Tony was born in Pretoria and moved to Durban at the age of 13. On finishing school he joined the merchant navy where he studied Marine Engineering. Getting into the "study thing" prompted Tony to return to College and study Mechanical Engineering.
After working for various company's he decided to pursue the 'self employment' route since 1983. He then found a new hobby in diving, somewhat different to flying and various sports played at inter-provincial level.
With this new found love for diving, he started a successful dive camp at Ponto Dobela, in the Maputo Elephant reserve in 1999. It was then that he decided to do his skippers and Dive instructor course.
Tony then went to the Mediterranean and worked in the Mega Yacht industry in 2002. His love for Mozambique soon got the better of him and he returned to Ponta do Ouro where he became the owner of Devocean Diving.
