Ponta Do Ouro (Point of Gold) is famous from its coral reefs and white sand beaches. Located in the virgin environment of beaches and forests, it is a paradise for divers, surfers, beach lovers and tourists. 18 high quality offshore dive sites are the major attraction of this small and tranquil town.
Additionally, close proximity of the magnificent wildlife estate at Ndumu-Tembe-Futhi and in the Maputo Elephant Reserve, and the adjacent Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park World Heritage Site, combine to give Ponta Do Ouro enormous potential as a tourism destination.

Good fishing conditions, on and off-shore. You can catch the big one during deep sea fishing, by using your own boat or services of a fishing charter. You can also get your licence from the maritime office in town.
Turtle breeding. A walk along the beach might bring you face to face with a turtle laying her eggs (from October - December).
Attractive, intrinsic coastal forests and 4X4 Scenic Route. You can go for a challenging drive through the dense pristine dune forest, enjoying the bird life, on soft sand tracks.
Ponta is not far from other attractions:
Proximity to Maputo, KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng. Ponta Do Ouro is 6 hours of drive away from Johannesburg. The 117 km road to Ponta do Ouro from Maputo requires a 4x4 vehicle.
Proximity to good game viewing opportunities. Maputo Elephant Reserve is located about 50km North of Ponta Do Ouro. The Reserve is famous for its elephant herds. Flamingos can also be seen on the large inland lakes near the sea with scores of elephants to watch.
