The PADI Open Water Course is an entry level, certified scuba diving course. This course takes a minimum of four days to complete and is divided into three sections:
1. Knowledge Development
During the knowledge development sessions you will be taught the theory of diving, with the use of our PADI Open Water manuals and the open water videos, which are both divided into 5 sections. You're instructor will go over each section thoroughly with you, giving you short lectures followed by quizzes and a final exam answering any questions you may have.
2. Confined Water Dives
The confined water training is done in our bay. During these sessions you get comfortable with the scuba gear and practice skills you have already learned from reading the manual and watching the video in the knowledge development section of the open water course.
3. Open Water Dives
After completing the confined water dives, you are ready to go out with the boat and dive in the open water over our shallow coral reefs. This includes completing 4 separate dives in the open water, reviewing skills you learned in the confined water training sessions and putting to practice the theory that you learned in the knowledge development section of the coarse. Now you can experience the magic of the underwater world and see fish you have only ever seen in pictures before.
To participate in the PADI Open Water Course you must be 15 years or older. After completing the course you are qualified by PADI to dive to 18m with a buddy independent of supervision anywhere in the world.
A PADI Junior Open Water Course is also available for 12-15 year olds. All requirements of the PADI Open Water Course must be met and once completed the student is qualified to dive only when accompanied by another certified diver who is of legal age and not to a depth deeper than 12m.
The open water course costs R3,000.00.
